Swachhta Pakhwara Report(16-31 May, 2017)

· Swachhta Pakhwara was observed at ICAR-NBAIM.

· The fortnight long programme started with a Swachhta pledge which was administered to all staff by Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma.

· During the fortnight all the staff was involved in various cleaning activities for one hour from 4 to 5 PM. The office premises and the campus were cleaned. The weeds growing on the roadsides were removed.

· The scientists of the Bureau visited Primary school, Kushmaur to apprise the children about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the importance of keeping the environment clean.

· A meeting was held with the staff families residing in the campus and they were urged to segregate the biodegradable and non biodegradable waste at the household level so that the biodegradable waste could be utilized for compost making.

· On the campus, separate bins for biodegradable and non biodegradable waste have been placed and the household waste and agrowaste is being utilized for composting.

· Six compost pits have been constructed in the campus where the microbial consortium developed by the Bureau is being used for rapid composting.
